You also didn't say it's a modern sniper rifle, just something you stuck a midget's telescope on. If it's some kind of musket, you're not really gonna pin down much, especially if you're counter spelling.

1. Muzzle flash can give you away 2. You didn't say your bullets are homing/correct for wind or anything. You can still miss. And what kind of self-respecting evil overlord doesn't have at least an errant breeze blowing at all times?

how does 5/Bludeon = half-damage? it does 5 less not half. also, it's not epic lvl. the enchantments doen't go over +10 which is normal lvls of power.

Thinking about it a sniper rifle would be easilly countered by Damage reduction (Piercing).

duck for cover? i said i'm on a small hill in the middle of a field. cover doesn't exist, and he would get no warning because the bullet is supersonic so he would get hit before he knows the gun went off.

If it's epic levels, the caster just casts perfect teleport, and like.... 2x dc 80 wail of the banshee or something.

Assuming, however, they don't just duck into cover. Or the enemy wizard doesn't just cast greater invisibility and then teleports to you, at which point you can't counterspell since you need to be able to see the spell's somatic components to counter it.

thing is, i'm so fucking far downrange that i can hit them a lot before he gets to melee. if it's an enemy wizard then i just have some counter-spells set up to deflect any magic he flings at me while he can't counter spell this due to it being an actual weapon.

Furthermore, once you actually get a +10 weapon your enemies will undoubtedly have enough hit points to withstand a single critical hit which will get them through the surprise round..

The highest critical rating possible only gives you a 25% chance of a critical hit, and that won't multiply your damage from the extra damage enchantments.

now throw on the distance enchantment to double it's range. Keen to make it critical. may as well also make it a +5 weapon. and enchant the bullets with acid, lightning, fire, and frost. so you would end up fireing +5 fire-frost-acid-lighting-distance-keen bullets at a guy about.... 3000 feet away.
